Humanities scholarship in the 21st century will go digital--that is certain. But what is digital scholarship, and how durable is it? This presentation will examine the role different forms of digital representation (in particular, XML markup) can play in creating durable, sustainable materials to support advanced digital scholarship. Julia Flanders has worked in the vanguard of these issues as director of the digital Women Writers Project and an associate director with the Scholarly Technology Group at Brown University.
