“The Devil Is In the Details Lyrics”

The belief that popular musicians are in cahoots with the devil for their talent is nothing new. The idea goes back as early as the 1700s. There always have been people who believe that what is popular is so simply because of an evil influence, but is it true? Are there really back-masked messages in rock music? What is a subliminal message and would it affect you if you did not hear it? And what exactly are the lyrics to “Louie Louie?” Communication expert Joe Burns separates fact from fiction and reveals what happened down at the Crossroads.

Opening Reception: Marjorie Morrison Sculpture Biennial

Friday, October 16 | 6:00 - 8:00 pm
Hammond Regional Arts Center

Marjorie Morrison has been a leading supporter of the arts in Louisiana for many decades. The state's Arts Slide Lending Library, the organization and development of the Hammond Regional Arts Center, and the establishment of arts education in the Tangipahoa Parish school system are just a few of the projects she has spearheaded. In her honor, the Hammond Regional Arts Center has established a biennial juried sculpture show. This year's inaugural show will be judged by Rose M. Courville, formerly the curator of exhibitions at the Acadiana Center for the Arts in Lafayette, who has produced critically acclaimed exhibitions throughout Louisiana as well as many exhibition catalogs. She is the curator for the Southern Open, an annual competitive juried exhibition, and serves on the Visual Arts Committee for the Festival Internationale, as well as the Steering Committee for the Congrès Mondial Acadien-Louisiane 2014 Bid. (Exhibit continues through November 14)
